Canterbury Christ Church University is continuing its successful partnership with Kent County Cricket Club by becoming the sponsor of their Women’s team for the 2014 season.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has announced that 18 players from the England Women’s Performance Programme have been awarded new contracts, which have come into effect from this month.

England’s best female cricketers are set to pit their skills against each other in a series of Twenty20 and 50-over matches at the National Cricket Performance Centre (NCPC) in Loughborough.

Kent and England stars Charlotte Edwards and Lydia Greenway presented the Under 11 Girls with their County High Performance caps – a very proud moment for both the girls and their parents.

For the sixth year running, as part of their early season preparation, the Kent Under 11 Girls Cricket 20 player squad took time out from their usual cricket training to enjoy a twenty-four hour stay at Kent County Council’s Residential Centre at Swattenden, near Cranbrook.

The recent naming of Charlotte Edwards as one of Wisden’s Five Cricketers of the Year prompted the county girls squads to also offer their congratulations to the Kent and England captain.

ECB Chief Executive David Collier today praised the achievement of Kent and England captain Charlotte Edwards MBE after she became only the second women’s cricketer to be named a Wisden Cricketer of the Year.
