County OSCA Winners 2013 announced!

The NatWest OSCAs are the ECB’s Outstanding Service to Cricket Awards and are aimed at recognising and rewarding those volunteers who give so much of their time to the game of cricket.

It’s fair to say that cricket could not survive without its huge army of unsung heroes. It includes small gestures like making teas at a fundraiser, and bigger gestures like coaching the juniors of the team. No doubt there are some volunteers out there now who are coaching both County and England stars of the future. The NatWest OSCAs ceremony is held every year at Lord’s Cricket Ground and is attended by over 300 people. 2012 saw almost 400 nominations put forward from the counties for the seven different categories.

In 2012 three of the seven Kent Finalists were crowned National Winners which is a simply fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work put in by the individuals. Click Here for the full report on the 2012 winners, and Here for the ECB report on the 2012 event.

The KCB received 15 nominations across the 7 categories for 2013. Nominations have now been considered and a County winner in each category has been selected. Nominations and County winners are as follows:

County Winner 2013

All nominees will receive a certificate from the Kent Cricket Board and the England and Wales Cricket Board. County winners will now be invited to a day of hospitality on Friday 13th September at the Spitfire St Lawrence Ground on day 3 of the LV=CC2 fixture V Essex. The County winners will also be invited to the ECB national OSCA's awards at Lord's Cricket Ground due to take place on Monday 30th September 2013. They will now automatically be put forward for a National OSCA as County winners.

The KCB would like to congratulate all those who have been nominated for a County OSCA this year and also thank them for the voluntary work that they do for cricket throughout Kent. It is true to say that without individuals such as these cricket clubs would not be able to operate.
