England’s Women’s Ashes Star wows Kent Girls
Heather Knight, England’s Player of the Ashes series, was the guest of honour at the Kent Under 11 Girls awards presentation, held recently at Addington Village Cricket Club.
The 22 year old opening batsman, whose match-saving innings of 157 in the sole Test was instrumental in helping England regain the Ashes, was also accompanied by the magnificent Ashes Trophy.
Heather answered questions from each girl and then presented medals and trophies to every member of the Under 11 squad.
She said, “It was great to see the Kent women's youth section thriving and so many young girls playing and enjoying their cricket. Well done to everyone involved at Kent for their efforts.”
David Sear, manager of the Kent Under 11 Girls, said “I thought that our gathering would go well because this season we have had such a fantastic bunch of girls and a wonderful set of parents, but having Heather and the Ashes Trophy at our do was the icing on the cake. Judging from the reactions of everyone, I think that we did a good job at capturing the spirit of the season with the photo and music show. It was a most enjoyable and inspirational evening and I must thank everyone who made it possible.”
